Law of Attraction Coach‘Failure’ is something we think about largely in mostly negative terms. If you fail at something, that means you tried and were unsuccessful, which in turn suggests that you didn’t do well.

While this is often the case though, it is not fair to always assume that failure necessarily correlated with things going wrong. What if you plan to fail for instance? This is the idea behind ‘fail fast’ which is actually a great way to ‘win’.

What it Means to Fail Fast

Failing fast means that you set out to fail quickly and move on to the next task. While it is applicable in many different circumstances, it is most often referred to in terms of business. In business, ‘failing fast’ means releasing a minimally viable product in order to see whether or not there is any interest for it.

So say you were creating a mobile app that you were hoping to get rich from. One impulse here might be to spend a long time creating the best mobile app possible with the hope that it would thus sell better, get better reviews and create more of a fuss.

The problem with this though, is that it means you’re investing a lot of time and effort into an idea that may not work. This then means you can spend a huge amount of time perfecting your app and making sure it works absolutely flawlessly – only to find that no one is interested in buying it. As such, you will have wasted your time and wasted your money.

Failing fast on the other hand means releasing the app quickly to see if there is any interest in it in the first place. You may then find that nobody downloads it, in which case you won’t have spent much time or money on the app and therefore you will be able to move on to the next project. And if it is successful? You spend longer perfecting it to the point where it can make you a lot of money.

Applying the Strategy Elsewhere

So how does this strategy apply outside of the realms of business?

Well, imagine for instance that you are going to a bar in order to pick up members of the opposite sex. Here, using the ‘fail fast’ approach might mean smiling at people from a distance and generally making eye contact. Rather than going up and talking to people and risking rejection, you are very quickly finding out if you stand a chance before you invest more effort.

Stop being afraid of failure and learn to do it quickly – then things can fall into place.
