Law of Attraction CoachBeing persistent is often the best way to increase your chances of being successful. The simple fact of the matter is that the more times you try, the more opportunity you have to win. If you’re objective is to throw a coin and have it land on heads, then throwing the coin more times is the best way to do that. And this example is a good analogy for many other things in life.

But some situations lend themselves more to persistence than others. Here we will look at some of the elements that suggest a situation is ripe for persisting…

When There’s No Downside

The very best situations for being persistent are those where there’s no drawback when things go wrong. For instance, if you’re applying for a job then there are no negative repercussions to not getting a response. That means there’s no reason not to persist. Situations that involve a lot of risk are a different story but otherwise you have no reason not to keep trying forever.

When Incremental Change Adds Up

Sometimes we feel like we’ve failed when in fact our efforts have accomplished something. If you’ve been sticking to a workout for two weeks for instance and you’re seeing no results then you might be tempted to give up. In fact though, the reality is probably that you have lost some weight/built some muscle it’s just not that noticeable. Over time if you keep trying then the benefits will add up incrementally and eventually you’ll get where you want to be.

When You Can Learn From It

Likewise, you should keep trying in any situation where you learn from keeping trying. So if it’s building a successful website you’re interested in, you should note that you will be learning from each failed attempt. And what that means is that you’ll be increasingly more likely to succeed. If you give up now, then the very next time might have been the time you got it right…

When Trying Gives You Hope

Sometimes there is serious value in trying even when it isn’t yielding results. Sometimes having a concrete goal can be almost like having a ‘light at the end of the tunnel’ in that it gives you something to keep trying towards and to keep working for. When you give up, you take that away – which is why it’s so important to carry on.
