The phrase to “fake it till you make it” is often heard in the business environment. It’s often used to inspire a salesperson to move forward with a sales presentation even though the person isn’t very knowledgeable about the product. This gives the wrong impression to those who think they can move through life successfully by “faking it.”

In this case, the better tactic from a leader to the team member would be to instill personal belief that the individual can succeed, even without all the answers. But that belief must be delivered with a sincere heart.

Similarly, when someone disappoints, the correction should be made with equal conviction and belief that the individual will make a change to provide the desired result.
